As a daughter of two immigrants that spoke little to no English, and myself growing up in the U.S, I became the designated translator of the household. For as long as I can remember, I would spend hours reading and translating documents from medical bills to financial statements that I could barely understand at such a young age.

As I got older I realized that this was not considered normal in every family, but I was not alone. At the time, my mother could not speak or understand  English well but knew 4 other languages and to now still see little to no resources in a country comprised of many immigrants and non-English speakers feels simply wrong.

I believe that knowledge should be accessible to all and, especially when it is readily available, language or expense should not be a barrier when it comes to making big decisions.
